Asletts Ltd was appointed to carry out a full external decking replacement at The Smugglers Rest, a popular hospitality venue in Peacehaven. The existing decking had deteriorated over time and was no longer safe for public use. The objective was to deliver a robust, non-slip decking solution capable of withstanding heavy footfall while maximising the usability and appeal of the outdoor seating area.

While working in Peacehaven, the team regularly stopped for breakfast at Drink & Dine, which became a welcome and much-enjoyed part of the working week.
The project presented several key challenges:
• Removing and replacing an unsafe decking structure without compromising site safety

• Designing a layout that maximised seating and usability of the outdoor space

Once the existing decking was removed, it became clear that the underlying sub-base and sub-deck were also damaged beyond repair. Asletts responded quickly with a revised plan to ensure structural integrity and long-term performance.

• Installation of new non-slip commercial decking, backed by a 25-year manufacturer’s guarantee

• Strict adherence to health and safety standards throughout the four-week programme
